Our Programs

Our programs create a ripple of hope in the communities they serve. We strive to tackle the silent struggles of suppressed individuals globally and locally, creating an equitable world with opportunities for all. In places like the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, everyday girls battle with period poverty, and without a way to communicate outside of the camp, they are left feeling forgotten. For teens in the foster system, they are often forgotten over the Christmas season because their needs are expensive and not as fun to shop for. For kids with special needs, school isn’t the encouraging learning space it should be, often leading to them feeling left out and unable to reach their full potential. Through reusable period kits we give girls a boost to continue their education. Over the holidays we gift teens in foster care their wishlists to inspire them to grow through adversity. By creating inclusive classrooms we create better education for ALL! Supporting The Do Better Initiative not only affects the people we serve, it shapes the future for our youth!

End PERIOD POVERTY

Period poverty takes dignity from too many girls. Pads and other period products are considered a luxury item, with most girls having access to none at all. They resort to using unsanitary old cloths, drastically affecting their health and education, while robbing them of their dignity. Through our period kits and educational material, we are giving dignity back. Due to the stigma that surrounds girl's periods, it is a silent battle, fought alone. Our goal is to change that.

Create Inclusive Classrooms

We believe that every student should have the same opportunities as others, no matter what. This program is inspired by The Do Better Initiative's founder's little sister, Emma Luna's, journey. We bring sensory kits, sensory nooks, and workshops to Texas classrooms, allowing every child to thrive.

Support Foster Youth

A large assortment of gifts and items stacked on a wooden floor in a room with a television in the background. The pile includes stacked shoeboxes, a basketball, a football, a Roku TV, Nintendo Switch, headphones, snacks, art supplies, clothing, and gift-wrapped packages, all arranged in a corner.

At The Do Better Initiative, our Support Foster Youth program is driven by a deep commitment to empowering teens in foster care across Texas, helping them thrive in their education, build independence, and envision brighter futures. Inspired by our overarching goals of fostering health, education, and youth support in underserved communities, we focus on bridging gaps that many foster youth face, whether it's access to educational tools, essential resources, or simply the joy of feeling seen and celebrated. During the holiday season, we go beyond basics by fulfilling personalized wishlists with items like laptops for schoolwork, new clothing and shoes for confidence, and gift cards for ongoing needs. By partnering with local organizations and communities, we're not just giving gifts, we're investing in resilience, empathy, and long-term success for these incredible young people.
