Get Involved:

We are so glad you want to help us make a difference for girls, students, and teens in foster care in Central Texas and beyond. While donations are always amazing, there are so many other ways you can join our mission to do better. Here’s how you can get involved and help us grow!

Spread the word

One of the most powerful (and easiest!) ways to help is by sharing The Do Better Initiative with your friends, family, and followers. Getting the word out helps us reach new supporters who can donate, volunteer, or partner with us; ultimately allowing us to provide more period kits to girls in need, sensory regulation tools to local classrooms, and holiday support to foster teens. Every share builds awareness and brings us closer to our impact goals. Here are some easy ways to spread the word: Tell your friends and family about us and invite them to visit thedobetterinitiative.org or follow us on social media to learn more. Post our website or program pages on your social media with a personal note about why you support us: like how period kits keep girls in school or sensory kits help kids thrive in class! Thank you for amplifying our voice in your community!

In-Kind Donations

We're always seeking unique, high-quality items (especially handmade!) to include in our kits, and your donations or connections can make a big difference. Whether you're crafting reusable pads for period kits, quiet fidgets for sensory regulation kits, or sharing leads on bulk supplies, these in-kind contributions directly enhance the resources we deliver to underserved girls, students, and foster youth across Central Texas. We’ve created an Amazon wishlist where you can purchase items that ship directly to us. Or, if you (or someone you know) make handmade goods, here’s what we especially love: For Period Kits: Sewing clubs or individuals can make reusable pads (reach out for patterns and details!). Soap shops can donate soap scraps for laundry kits! For Sensory Regulation Kits: Handmade fidgets are our favorite, they’re often quieter and more classroom-friendly. Contact us for ideas! Have other talents, items, or connections? Email liliana@thedobetterinitiative.org—I’d love to chat about how we can collaborate!

Unite With Others

Bring your community together to fundraise and create even bigger impact! Whether launching a crowdfunding campaign with friends or hosting a fun neighborhood event, your group efforts can fund dozens (or hundreds!) of kits and resources, directly supporting period equity, inclusive education, and foster youth empowerment in Texas. Start a Crowdfunding Campaign: Rally friends or family to create a page on platforms like Zeffy or GoFundMe. Every $8 sends a full reusable period kit, so a group effort can help many girls stay in school with dignity! Share your campaign widely to inspire others. Host a Neighborhood Fundraiser: Organize a lemonade stand, block party, bake sale, or talent show. For example, $200 can fund 30 period kits or multiple sensory items for classrooms. It’s a fun way to unite and make tangible change! When we come together, we can transform more lives, let’s do better as a community!

Doing Better In Action Highlights

The Do Better Crafting Circle:

A group of ladies meet weekly to make amazing handmade fidgets for the Creating Inclusive Classrooms program and fantastic reusable period pads for the End Period Poverty program. Every month we receive around 100 pads and 40 fidgets, which greatly helps us lower our budget, and provides us with extra special and meaningful items to supply in our programs.
