Welcome to The Do Better Initiative Blog: Our Very First Post!

Hello, everyone!

I'm Liliana Kubinski, a 15-year-old from Central Texas, and I'm beyond excited to welcome you to the very first post on The Do Better Initiative's new blog. This space will be where I share stories of impact, updates on our programs, heartfelt reflections, and ways you can join us in creating real change. Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey!

How It All Began

The Do Better Initiative started with a simple family motto: Do Better. During the holiday season in 2024, at 14 years old, I set out to make a difference for foster youth in Texas. I organized fundraisers, gift drives, and donated everything I made through babysitting and pet sitting and raised $25,000 (way more than I ever imagined) and delivered Christmas gifts and essential items to 31 incredible teens who deserved to feel seen and supported.

That experience opened my eyes to needs far beyond my community. Soon after, I turned my attention to the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, where I fundraised and assembled 100 period kits to help young women manage their periods with dignity, stay in school, and build confidence.

These projects lit a fire in me. With unwavering support from my family and inspired every day by my beautiful little sister, Emma Luna, who thrives when given the right resources, I officially founded The Do Better Initiative in April 2025. Our goal? To build a world where no child feels like an afterthought.

What We Stand For

Today, we're focused on three core areas that touch the lives of young people right here in Central Texas and around the globe:

  • Ending Period Poverty We assemble and distribute reusable period kits through community events and direct outreach. These kits go to girls and women in underserved and homeless communities locally, as well as to girls worldwide, ensuring they can stay healthy, confident, and in school.

  • Creating Inclusive Classrooms Inspired directly by Emma Luna's journey, we equip schools with sensory tools, adaptive furniture, and teacher training. Every student regardless of ability deserves to feel supported, included, and capable of reaching their full potential.

  • Supporting Foster Youth We provide holiday gifts, ongoing essentials, and opportunities for teens in Central Texas foster care. No young person should ever feel forgotten or alone.

Thank you for reading our very first post. Together, we're proving that when we choose to Do Better, we can change lives, one kit, one classroom, one teen at a time.

With gratitude and hope,

Liliana Kubinski
