Our Programs

Our programs create a ripple of hope in the communities they serve. We strive to tackle the silent struggles of suppressed individuals globally and locally, creating an equitable world with opportunities for all. In places like the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, everyday girls battle with period poverty, and without a way to communicate outside of the camp, they are left feeling forgotten. For teens in the foster system, they are often forgotten over the Christmas season because their needs are expensive and not as fun to shop for. For kids with special needs, school isn’t the encouraging learning space it should be, often leading to them feeling left out and unable to reach their full potential. Through reusable period kits we give girls a boost to continue their education. Over the holidays we gift teens in foster care their wishlists to inspire them to grow through adversity. By creating inclusive classrooms we create better education for ALL! Supporting The Do Better Initiative not only affects the people we serve, it shapes the future for our youth!

01

End PERIOD POVERTY

A kitchen counter is covered with neatly stacked period kits, each containing colorful underwear in shades of pink, black, teal, and other colors, organized in piles with some wrapped in green and colorful pouches. The kitchen features white cabinets, a stainless steel sink, a stove with a range hood, and two gold pendant lights hanging above. Additional items include Amazon delivery boxes, a white scale, a dish towel on the oven handle, and a large plastic bag in the background, containing more supplies.

Period poverty takes dignity from too many girls. Pads and other period products are considered a luxury item, with most girls having access to none at all. They resort to using unsanitary old cloths, drastically affecting their health and education, while robbing them of their dignity. Through our period kits and educational material, we are giving dignity back. Due to the stigma that surrounds girl's periods, it is a silent battle, fought alone. Our goal is to change that.

Create Inclusive Classrooms

We believe that every student should have the same opportunities as others, no matter what. This program is inspired by The Do Better Initiative's founder's little sister, Emma Luna's, journey. We bring sensory kits, adaptive furniture, and workshops to Texas classrooms, allowing every child to thrive.

A collection of sensory items laid out on a white marble countertop, including a colorful butterfly-shaped plush toy with textured spots, a blue pop-it fidget toy, a pack of "Punkin' Hugs" adaptive vests, a pair of blue headphones in a pouch, colorful elastic bands, and a set of illustrated schedule cards with daily activities.

A large assortment of gifts and items stacked on a wooden floor in a room with a television in the background. The pile includes stacked shoeboxes, a basketball, a football, a Roku TV, Nintendo Switch, headphones, snacks, art supplies, clothing, and gift-wrapped packages, all arranged in a corner.

Support Foster Youth

In Texas, we empower teens in foster care with resources to thrive in their education and beyond. During the holiday season, we bring joy by fulfilling wishlists submitted by each teen, carefully purchasing and wrapping gifts like laptops, shoes, and clothing to meet their unique needs. Alongside these personalized gifts, we provide essentials, such as gift cards for personal or educational expenses, to support their independence and well-being year-round. Together, we’re building brighter futures for our youth.
